Drivers in Baton Rouge and throughout Louisiana must be vigilant about pedestrians as they cross the street. Drivers who fail on both ends can cause injuries and fatalities in car accidents. It is also important that after an accident, they stop their vehicle, render aid, if necessary, call for emergency services and give their information to any victims. Those who are driving and commit a hit-and-run will not only face the aftermath of any injuries or deaths that occur, but also criminal charges. And, victims must be aware of their rights to seek compensation in a legal filing after such a crash.

An early evening accident between a car and a pedestrian sent a 10-year-old girl to the hospital. The girl was riding her bicycle. Her 16-year-old sister was with her on foot. As they waited to cross the street to go to the store, a car hit the girl on the bike. It then fled the scene.

Law enforcement states that it is seeking a four-door Honda, with a hood that was a different color than its body. The crash led to the front grill of the car falling off. The girl was taken to the hospital for a broken arm and fractured collarbone. She is awaiting scans on her leg and knee, and the investigation is ongoing.

There are multiple considerations that victims must think about after a child pedestrian is injured in a hit-and-run accident. First and foremost is the condition of the child. There can be injuries, surgical procedures, the need for long-term care and the potential that he or she will never be able to return to normal in a physical and emotional way.

Next is the search for the vehicle that decided to flee after hitting someone. People who have suffered in this type of incident might be overwhelmed. While law enforcement is there to search for the driver and the child might be getting medical care, a legal filing to be compensated could be needed. With that, the family must consult with a lawyer.

A child who was riding her bicycle and crossing the street with her sister was hit by a car. The car fled. She suffered several injuries and was hospitalized. As the investigation continues in its search to find the driver and the child is being treated, it is crucial that her family protect themselves and their interests by contacting a lawyer to discuss a lawsuit.
